This page has been a long time coming...but better late than never, right?
Anyway...here are some pictures of various rooms in the flat before we
started painting. When we finish painting (or perhaps I should say *if*),
I will put some up of the finished product. It has been an interesting
project so far, the main colour turning out to be a bit more pink than
brown, but hey...we can't complain, we're not paying for the paint! Still
a couple walls left to do, and the shower area...one day. Oh and the
fence, too bad I don't have a before picture of that! Anyway, here is
where Al and I spend our days...

Notice the funny-coloured patches? Those are where the paint was
touched up with glossy stuff, and not the right colour either. This
is just before I started painting this wall one morning - Al's handiwork
on one wall in the kitchen, the pinky colour is
the new one...isn't he cute!

This is the old colours that were in our bedroom, aren't they sexy??? You
can even see the end of one of our "love lights" (the romantic fluorescent
industrial lights in our bedroom)...they are a disaster and a half, thank
goodness for bedside (incandescent!) lamps!

Here is half of our bathroom, from the hallway...the toilet is behind the
open door to the left, next to that half-wall.

Our waching machine and deep sink, yes the sink is made of cement...very
nice, we know. The 3 steps up to the bedroom and bathroom are just to the
left of the photo, and the door you see on the right is the door into the
shower. And to the right of that is the kitchen. Not your conventional
living space...Behind me is the lounge.

Ok...so, the shower is directly to the left of this picture. The cupboard
on the left in the foreground is where we keep our dishes, and obviously
random stuff on top. Microwave is on the bench next to the fridge, and
the lovely yellow paint is what the two concrete block walls were painted
before we got after them...so our whole lounge was that colour. The
kitchen is actually rather clean, yay for me...it is rarely in that state.
And the open space behind the cuboard in front (on the wall next to the 3
ones in back) now has shelves, courtesy of Al. Don't really know what
else to say about this one!

This is outside the flat, across the fence from our front yard...this is
what we awoke to one morning, wondered what the heck was going on. Turned
out to be a practise exercise, quite cool to watch! You can see that
telephone pole thing on top of that wee white stationwagon just to the
right of the SUV, they did the whole jaws of life thing and propped the
pole up on blocks etc etc. The thing that confused us at first was that
we
were sure we hadn't heard sirens, you would think that if two fire trucks
showed up next door with sirens blaring we would wake up...so that was
odd..it was only when we went to the BP to get a paper that one of the men
told us it was a drill. Our front gate is in the foreground...notice the
proper fence to the right and the sexy corrugated iron one to the
left.

We are always having random things turn up over there, this is the same
place as above, and this traction engine just pulled in and parked there
one Sunday afternoon! Yet again, Al was transfixed. It was a pretty cool
old thing.
More pictures yet to come, watch this space for ones of the outside of the
flat (the garden when I get it all weeded), the fence, and the new paint
job inside! Don't hold your breath though, they may be a while.
